Name of Product: Great Plains Conference of the United Methodist Church Website Redesign and Development

Client: Great Plains Conference of the United Methodist Church

Description: For a nonprofit's website redesign, I focused on enhancing user experience and accessibility. The project included implementing a flexible carousel for news and videos, adding an emergency banner, and integrating a new search engine. I also created streamlined sections for news, events, and featured content. The design used earthy tones and incorporated user-friendly navigation, tagging for featured items, and dedicated sections for photo credits and video topics.

The project included:

  • Design Kick off Consultation

  • Wireframing & Prototyping

  • Website Development

  • Quality Assurance

  • CMS Implementation

  • Ongoing tech support

Software: Figma, Tailwind CSS, Alpine.js, ASP.NET Razor, XML, C#, HTML, Javascript

Color Psychology

Blue: Tranquility, Trust, and Dependability

Light Gray: Balance, Calmness, and Sophistication

The original website used a bright red color scheme that the client felt was too intense and no longer aligned with their vision. While the colors were striking, they did not convey the feeling of an engaging, mission-driven nonprofit organization. The client wanted new branding for the website to better reflect their vibrant and dynamic mission, while maintaining the existing logo.

I chose these colors because the blue conveys trust and dependability, essential for a nonprofit, while the light gray balances the blue with a sense of calmness and sophistication.

Key updates include a dynamic carousel for news and videos, an emergency banner, streamlined sections for news and events, and a robust search engine.

The new design aligns with the nonprofit’s mission, creating a cohesive and engaging online presence that effectively communicates their values and supports their community-focused goals.
